Demonstrative adjectives

  • Demonstrative adjectives in French are ce, cette, ces, and cet.
  • They have to agree with the noun they refer to:
        ce magasin - before masculine
        cette région - before feminine
        cet oiseau - before vowel
        ces pommes - before plural

Demonstratives adjectives are the equivalent of this or that in English or ce, cette etc. in French. They are used to point something out:

Cette voiture est italienne

This car is Italian

Demonstratives adjectives have to agree with the noun they refer to. They have the following forms:

Ce magasin est fermé le dimanche

This shop is closed on Sundays

Cet oiseau est rare

This bird is rare

J'aime bien cet auteur

This region is very beautiful

Ces pommes sont très bonnes

These apples are very nice
